Vineyard

Variety Grenache and Mataro
Vineyard Ashmead family vineyard, Greenock, Barossa Valley and Murtho, Riverland
Soil Greenock exhibits lean soils of red and brown clay mixed with some lighter sandy loams. Murtho exhibits red brown loam with some clay content on the upper bank of the Murray River.

Winemaking

Season tempered with tricky weather leading into the ripening period, the Grenache and Mataro luckily escaped hail damage and instead enjoyed mild conditions throughout. The cooler conditions allowed for steady ripening and preservation of delicate flavours with lower potential alcohol.
Winemaking the Murtho Grenache was pressed on arrival at the winery for settling and fermentation on light lees. The Grenache and Mataro from Greenock were harvested together and pressed after a little time on skins to enhance colour and flavour development. Time on yeast lees for several weeks post fermentation helped impart an attractive savoury and creamy texture to the palate.

Reviews / Awards

Strawberry, spice and a savoury undertone blend beautifully, and the palate is crunchy with vibrant acidity that brings the wine to a nice, crisp finish. This is the kind of wine that is simply delicious from start to finish. The Small Victories Rosé is the perfect wine for enjoying with friends over lunch or a picnic. It has just enough oomph to it to be paired beautifully with food. No matter the weather outside, this wine will go well with a wide range of foods, from spicy winter soup to charcuterie. -Ella @thecheekyvino
A perfumed nose of fresh flowers, wet stones and sliced strawberries. Medium-bodied with a silky texture. Fresh, with a berry core. Bright and tasty. -JamesSuckling.com
The bottle didn’t stay full in our house for very long 😅 In the glass it’s a pretty baby pink shade. Cranberry, raspberry and juicy citrus notes rise from the glass alongside that über refreshing spring air feel. The juiciness and refreshingness follow through to the palate with licks of lemongrass, musk and pomegranate coming through for me. -Casey Bryan, The Travelling Corkscrew
