We are lucky to get to do what we love every day. So a key part of Small Victories Wine Co is giving back to the community.

We decided early on that we would like to partner with community organisations or charities, with a portion of tasting fees at Cellar Door to be donated to these organisations. And with every wine purchase you are making a difference as we also donate a portion of each bottle sold.

INTRODUCING OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS FOR 2023-24

This financial year we have chosen to go hyper-local with our community partners. We live and work in the Barossa, so have chosen two Barossa organisations to support in 2023-24.

Learn a little more about our community partners and the work they do:

KIND HEARTED KITCHEN

Kind Hearted Kitchen is a free meal service in the Barossa, cooking family-friendly, delicious and nutritious meals from donated ingredients for the local community. Founded by Ruby Stobart and Rachael Braunack in 2015 – Rachael being a qualified chef and both having studied marketing, the friends thought they would put their skills together for the community.

Ruby, Rachael a bunch of amazing volunteers, do this in their own time, from produce donated from gardens and pantries. Meals are cooked, portioned and frozen then delivered to local community centres. Meals are free, and there is no qualification process to receive meals.

Kind Hearted Kitchen know that when you have a new baby, or are caring for others, grieving, going through treatment or depressed, you often don’t feed yourself well. They love to use all the ugly vegetables, overgrown zucchinis, tins at the back of the cupboard and turn them into lasagnas, casseroles, curries, pastas, muffins and more.

Meals are distributed to Lutheran Community Care, Carer’s & Disability Link, Child & Family Health Service, The Community Kitchen, The Hub, via local pastoral care and wellbeing programs at schools and direct to individuals. Cook-ups occur every 8-10 weeks and in local commercial kitchens.

Why we chose Kind Hearted Kitchen as one of our partners:

“Kind Hearted Kitchen was created in the Barossa to support local people in need. The wonderful group donate their time and skills in the kitchen to craft meals for people using produce donated from local gardens and pantries. We are proud our support can help this awesome initiative. There is nothing quite like a nutritious home cooked meal, which is something often quickly overlooked in hard times.”
– Jules

A word from Kind Hearted Kitchen:

“It seems fitting that Kind Hearted Kitchen and Small Victories Wine Co would come together – both dreamt up and run by mums, friends and women who are keen to support their community. Rach and I are thrilled to be able to be able to purchase necessities for our cook-ups such as protein, dairy and containers for the meals we make.”
– Ruby Stobart, co-founder, Kind Hearted Kitchen

NURIOOTPA POOL WORKING GROUP

Nuriootpa Pool Working Group are supporters and advocates for the Barossa community’s only 50m outdoor swimming pool. Built by the community (76 years ago!) for the community as a living war memorial, the Group aim to keep the pool open for the well-being and benefit of the entire Barossa community – all ages, all backgrounds, all abilities.

Why we chose the Nuriootpa Pool Working Group as one of our partners:

We have chosen to partner with the Nuriootpa Pool Working Group as they advocate for a community facility that is great for our region. Having avid swimmers in the family, it would also be great to see further improvements to the facility so that the Barossa Swimming Club could utilise the pool for summer training sessions and to host events.
– Bec

A word from the Nuriootpa Pool Working Group:

“The Nuri Pool Working Group are currently working towards the purchase of accessibility steps for the pool, and the contribution from Small Victories Wine Co will go towards this project. The steps will allow a greater range of individuals access the pool, so even more members of our community can access this amazing Olympic-sized pool that is owned and loved by our community and has ultimately been saved by the community voice.”
– Maz, Nuriootpa Pool Working Group

WHO WE SUPPORTED IN 2022-23

In 2022-23 Bec and Jules chose two charities to partner with: Variety – the Children’s Charity and Trees For Life.

Thank you to everyone who placed a token into the donation jars at cellar door or purchased a bottle of wine from us – we are so pleased to share that this financial year we have donated $2000 to each charity!
