Wondering about the best places to eat in the Barossa? We all know food and wine go hand in hand, and the Barossa offers this in spades. From grabbing lunch on the run, to casual dining with friends, to that somewhere special for a dinner, the Barossa offers some amazing places to dine.
We live here, so our take on dining in the Barossa is how we eat when we’re out and about in our region.
Here are seven places that we love to eat in the Barossa
Casa Carboni
Fiona and Matteo Carboni welcome you to this lovely slice of Italy in the Barossa. Matteo brings his skills in the kitchen to run a cooking school alongside the enoteca.
Lunch is available Thursday – Sunday, featuring Matteo’s pasta. Friday nights see Casa Carboni open as a wine bar with a tasting menu.
Bec’s tip – make sure you’re there early on the weekends so you don’t miss out on a baked sweet treat! The chocolate bomboloni are our favourite.
Jules’s tip – get in early on a Saturday morning to grab a coffee and sourdough and start thinking about what delicious cheese to serve alongside it!
Find Casa Carboni in Angaston’s main street.
Vintners Bar & Grill
Vintners is an Ashmead family favourite. With outdoor dining for the summer and a fireplace crackling in the winter, we love what Peter and Rami bring to the Barossa dining scene.
Bec’s tip – I find it hard to resist the fish of the day and you must have the fries. The espresso martinis are also very, very good.
Jules’s tip – I love the Kingfish sashimi and it would be perfect with a chilled glass of Pinot Gris…
Find Vintners between Nuriootpa and Angaston.
Dai Hiru Sushi
Need a quick lunch spot? Look no further!
Bec’s tip – this is a regular lunch option when I’m in the office. The grilled scallop and grilled salmon nigiri are my favs.
Find Dai Hiru Sushi in Nuriootpa.
Darlings Cafe
Open for the early risers (6am – 12pm), Darlings offers a menu featuring local producers with breakfast and lunch options.
Bec’s tip – a go to for coffee when the girls have their early morning swimming trainings!
Find Darlings Cafe in the main street of Tanunda.
Otherness
Otherness Wine Bar is a bright space offering local wines and food by Chef Sam Smith (formerly of Fino). Grant has created a wonderful place to enjoy great food wines, from lunch, through afternoon drinks and into dinner.
Bec’s tip – the sourdough is amazing and you’ll find this a great spot to enjoy a glass of our Pinot Gris!
Find Otherness in Angaston. Open Thursday – Monday.
Linke’s Bakehouse & Pantry
Linke’s Bakehouse & Pantry offer all your favourite bakery goods straight from the on-premise bakehouse, as well as a great selection of fresh breakfast and lunch options. The Pantry is your one stop shop for Barossa produce to take home with you (think olive oil, tea, biscuits, chutneys and more).
Jules’s tip – Linke’s donuts are the classic Aussie style and the boys love these any time of the day!
Find Linke’s in Nuriootpa’s main street. Open Monday – Saturday.
